Fireworks 2008

This is the sunset, on July 1st/08 as we were waiting for it to become dark enough for the fireworks show to start.

This picture (left) was taken with the fireworks mode turned on. It is a slower exposure, so you can see the trail of the fireworks. It also lets in more light, so it appears the fireworks show was early in the evening!

This was taken on July 1st 2008.
The pictures below were taken a few days earlier....

In June , on the Friday of the July 1st weekend, I went with friends to see fireworks at a nearby community. Notice how much light is still in the sky at 11:00 p.m.! After I took these pictures I found that there is a fireworks mode on my camera.

...and another!

A bit of history...
We moved to Lac La Biche in the summer of 2007. We knew it was a small town, but were surprised how small it is... 2700 people, two traffic lights, but just the same, there is nearly everything we need... friendly people, banks, grocery stores, clothing stores, a hospital, a dental clinic, newspaper, beauty salons, a variety of other stores and services, but most of all, Portage College. The college is one of the main employers in town, the other is the County offices, other than the services provided in Lac La Biche. For larger stores, or specialty medical/dental treatment we can travel to Cold Lake or St. Paul, or go into Edmonton.
